Should You Hire A Business Coach?

Hanna Fitz- Brand Strategist and Online Business Coach

I remember when I first made the decision that I needed to get some help with taking my business to the next level. I knew I didn’t want to try to figure it out on my own anymore. I was done taking the long route of trying to DIY my business by grabbing all the free webinars, reading hundreds of books and getting lost in a deep sea of information and no real frameworks and strategies for success.

Since quitting my corporate job seven years ago and starting my own business, I have had the opportunity to coach and consult for top players from around the world, helping them build successful international brands, thanks to clarity, strategy and focus.

Maybe you’re at that point in your life where you have all the information and expertise to create a successful business, but you feel lost in a sea of information, self doubt and possibly fear. Maybe you’re one of these women who isn’t up for taking the long road and playing the guessing game with your business and life. Having a business coach can really change your game.

I am so grateful that I decided that I didn’t need to figure it all out on my own and have learnt so much working with high performing coaches which has helped me attract and coach my own high performing clients. High performers invest in their personal and professional development and they hire experts to help them.

They don’t see expenses, they evaluate opportunities as investment and based on value and make decisions quickly while changing their minds slowly. Here are three signs you need to invest in a business coach to help you take your business to the next level:

#1 Lack Clarity On How to Start

Usually on my first meeting with many clients, they are filled with fabulous ideas about what they want to achieve in their business but usually lack focus. It is so easy to get lost in your own ambitions. You know what you want to achieve but just can’t figure out where to start and what to focus on now. You have all the expertise and knowledge, but you just find yourself going in circles and haven’t figured how you can further monetize your passion so that you can truly serve in the way you imagine.

A business coach can help you take all your knowledge, expertise and information and organize it into a viable business based on your personal and professional goals. One of the best stalls to success is a lack of clarity and a clear strategy. A business coach can help guide you in this process.

#2 Self Sabotaging

You know what you should be doing, but keep self sabotaging by not taking the action that you know you should be taking. You keep breaking your promises to yourself and now have a hard time trusting in your own abilities to take action. In fact, what tends to happen is that when you self sabotage you may begin to feel like others are letting you down to because you find it challenging to trust anyone.

At this point, you may already be tired of sitting on the sidelines and watching everyone else achieve the things you know that are possible for you. A business coach can help give you the accountability you need to stick with your plans and take action. Having a professional to help keep you accountable while providing the frameworks for you to achieve success can have huge benefits to your business.

Besides the fact that you have invested money in a coach, you will want to see results. That’s the difference between getting a freebie and making an investment, you become invested in the process and your level of commitment goes up.

#3 Not Getting The Results You Desire

Having a unique perspective on your business can really open you up to new possibilities that you may not have considered. There may be areas that you are over investing or under investing and having someone who can see your weaknesses and help you leverage them, has its benefits. We all have blind spots and while you can seek the advice of friends, high performers know that when it comes to creating a business the advice of a professional is worth far more than the opinion of a friend.

Maybe you feel like you have tried everything and nothing is working. If nothing is working it’s because you are not doing something correctly or at all. The beautiful thing about life is that if you don’t have the answers, there is always someone who does.

Every top athlete uses a coach to take them to high performance. Even actors and actresses use coaches to help guide their careers and up-level their skills. As a business owner and hire performer, having a coach to help you create a roadmap, keep you accountable and provide expert guidance can make a big difference to your success.

How do you know how much you should invest in a business coach? I should share how I decide how much to invest in anything. How much money are you looking to make in your business? What type of growth are you looking for? If your goal is to $100,000 or $200,000 is 10% of your income too much to invest? How you invest will really depend on two things: how much you believe in yourself and your own ability to succeed with the right help.
