Using “Vuja De” To Create Your World Class Brand

I’ve been reading Adam Grant’s book “The Originals” where he talks about “Vuja De” a term coined by George Carlin. If you have never heard the term before, it is the opposite of what the French call Deja vu “to have already see something that has just happened.”

Vuja de” is seeing something for the first time in a situation that was always there. We all experience this, but not many people are able to experience or act on it.

Albert Einstein explains this by saying:

“We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used to create them.”

Both Adam Grant and Simon Bailey, author of “Vuja De” believe that “vuja de” is what is required to make the shift in your life (and brand) from AVERAGE to BRILLIANT.

Most people accept the status quo and continue to go through the motions, believing that this is just the way life is or things are when you have so much power to change it.

To create a truly unique brand in your industry, you have to be able to make the shift to see the same thing in a new way for the first time. Maybe you have never seen anyone do what you desire to create. Maybe the people around you don’t usually approach life in this way.

I know when I made the decision that I was going to create my life different from my parents, it required me to make different decisions.

I was challenging the status quo in my family and while not everyone initially understood it, I trusted and I WAS FINALLY FREE to be me.

Perhaps you got a great idea and you’re still wondering if your idea is so good, why hasn’t anyone else done it? No one has done it yet because it is the Universe’s gift to you, but if you don’t do it, one day you’ll be watching someone else.

Embrace your vuja de moments. If you want a different result, you must take a different action. Do not sell yourself the story that you have tried everything. There is always something you can do or you are unwilling to do to turn things around.

Simon Bailey says that there is a gravitational pull in the market to be average. Fear and complacency keep many organizations (people) stuck in neutral.  Be an original and create a brand that is high-end, professional and different. Your ideal clients are waiting for your vuja de.
